MOHAMMED BIN RASHID AL MAKTOUM has no interest in football, one of his assigns claim.

There are many reports in Italy suggesting that Silvio Berlusconi could sell some of his Milan shares to the Prime Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Al Maktoum is reportedly ready to buy 25-30 per cent of Berlusconi’s shares for €200 million and according to today’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport, he can make Milan the second richest football club in the world.Rumours have already started about Al Maktoum helping Milan to buy San Siro or build a new stadium and fund moves for star players to strength the Rossoneri squad, but agreeing to his Italian spokespersons Gianluca Laliscia, the rumors are baseless for the 62-year-old does not prefer to get implied in football.

“They will not follow any meeting with anyone about an unlikely interest or involvement of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in football at any level,” said Laliscia. “The single meeting Sheikh Mohammed has next week in Italy are those related to ‘Marche Endurance Lifestyle’. He has not declared now or in the past any personal interest in football.”

The Italian media suggested Al Maktoum will meet with Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani at some point but Laliscia exacts “there will no other meetings in Italy”, denying those voices that the Sheikh could join Milan.

Whether it is the truth or just a tactic to keep the buying procedure in low profile remains to be discovered.
