Milan look reinforcements for defence

Milan looking for two defenders – Palermo player Federico Balzaretti and Cristian Zapata of Villarreal.

The Italian international, is of interest to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza outfit.

The club have been linked with the former Juventus player in the past, but netting the stopper could be problematic.

Palermo have insisted on numerous occasions that the player will remain in Sicily unless Paris Saint-Germain make an offer, seeing as his wife works in the French capital.

Meanwhile, the Corriere dello Sport is suggesting that Milan are pondering a swoop for Colombian international Zapata.

Mancini downplays transfer links

Milan make fresh Flamini offer

Mathieu Flamini has reportedly received an improved offer of a new contract by Italian giants Milan.

The Rossoneri player is available to leave the club on a Bosman transfer this summer given his expiring deal.

Earlier this month the club tabled an initial offer of a renewal, but, according to Mediaset, they’ve now increased their bid.

The Frenchman, 28, presently earns €4.5m at the club but the Diavolo want to slash his wages by over 50 per cent.

According to reports, Milan are prepared to give the former Arsenal man a two-year deal worth just under €2m a campaign.

If Flamini accepts those terms then it is likely that Milan will not make an offer to Liverpool to keep Alberto Aquilani.

The agent of Milan target Francesco Acerbi has rejected talk that Inter and Juventus have also made a move for the defender.

I’ve heard these reports too, but neither Inter nor Juventus have made contact with me,” Andrea Cattoli told Tutto Juve.
Suggestions that an auction is about to start for his services seems a little exaggerated to me. A lot of clubs like him, but there won’t be a bidding war.

The 23-year-old has been a revelation at Chievo in the second half of this season and talks with Milan have already taken place.

He’s had an excellent campaign where he has proved to be one of the best Italian defenders around, the representative added.

Thiago Silva: AC Milan need to spend

Thiago Silva has joined Zlatan Ibrahimovic in demanding new signings. “To win, Milan need quality reinforcements.”

Ibra raised eyebrows this week on international duty in Sweden when he stated the Rossoneri had “no money” to buy the five top players they need this summer.

Riccardo Montolivo and Bakaye Traoré have arrived, but they were free transfers from Fiorentina and Nancy.

Thiago Silva missed the last two months of the season due to muscular problems, but has recovered and played in a friendly against Denmark.

“I am in good shape and played well. I couldn’t wait to get back on to the field. The injury was my fault, as the Coach and fitness staff did not rush my recovery. I wanted to play against Roma at all costs, despite the fact I was not in the best condition, and I hurt myself badly.

“Going back, I would not make the same decision and maybe our season might’ve been different.”

Many look to losing Thiago Silva as the key moment in Milan’s season, as they were without their star defender in the Champions League quarter-final with Barcelona and the closing stages of the Scudetto race.

“To say I have regrets is an understatement. I am still furious at how things went and ask myself how it was possible to lose a Scudetto that way. We had a four-point advantage and finished up four points behind Juventus.

“We’ll make up for it next season. Right now I want to win the Olympics with Brazil, then the Champions League would be the ultimate.”
